Please note... my "obsession", as my darling bride calls it, is because I'm trying to START a new pinball parlor business and this is, in part, research. Trying different machines, talking to owners and employees as well as just enjoying the time playing works of art.

And I cherish our trips together just as much.

Beware the electro-mechanicals, MD. At the pinball museum in Vegas, you'd often see the owner peering inside, trying to figure out what was up. Sadly, the Gottlieb e-m tables were my favorites.

Also, i heard of a pinball parlor in Gastonia, NC that has a pretty wide selection. Also, there's a private club in Delaware that has more but is pricy to join.

Gottlieb is a weird bunch of machines, in a mostly good way. Very experimental. I do have a guy lining up to be a tech, but he’s not good at EMs so we shall see. The machine was well maintained for the last few decades of private play. As is I will be cautious about EMs in the future.

I talk with a few pinball collectives as well. Delaware has been mentioned a few times. Too far to join, they all are. That's why I want to start one.

Can’t wait to see you. I think everyone’s different. My childhood to age 6 was spent in a travel trailer as Dad worked construction and the 6 of us went where the work was, in a one-bedroom pull-behind trailer. When I was in first grade, he got steady work at home. My grandparents took us camping a lot, but no family vacations—no money. I had always planned to take my kids to all the national parks, and those kinds of trips…but then autism made just surviving very hard. No that the kids are grown and my husband retired, (and I found my dream job) we can go and do…and I’m loving it. We did some trips while the kids were in college, 4 trips to the Caribbean in 3 years because eldest child was in school there (and got a fabulous education, no matter what the detractors say. Not cheaper, though!) I won a Mediterranean cruise and have always wanted to go back…travel is very broadening, whether in your own country or outside. I firmly believe young adults should be forced to see other ways of life and other cultures. Too many of them think the rest of the world is “just like us, only better.”

One place I’ve never been is a Brazilian steakhouse—tell me more!

Oh, and MD? I don’t think I’ve ever seriously tried to play pinball. You’ll have to teach me.

When I was a kid, my family rarely traveled outside that state, so I took every opportunity after college. Had a blast until retirement. 🙂
